Hi -

I'm not sure how to go about this - I think an OCLC record and a Medline record is incorrect.  At least, they contradict what I am discovering. I'm also not quite sure what to order from our vendor to ensure we get the correct journal ... Someone please, help. I'm going insane trying to figure this one out.

Summary:  My guess is that "European journal of paediatric dentistry" is currently published in print only by Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry www.sioi.it.  Further, that "European archives of paediatric dentistry" is currently published online (maybe print) by European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD) http://www.eapd.gr and that "European archives of paediatric dentistry was split off from "European journal of paediatric dentistry".  However, the records in OCLC and Medline contradict this assumption.  Read further to see why I think this ...

Silly me. All I want to do is order a title, preferably online, because we received some copies and liked it.  In hand I have:

European journal of paediatric dentistry, ISSN 1591-996X
v.7, no.3 (2006 Sept.)
v.7, no.4 (2006 Dec.)
v.8, no.1 (2007 Mar.)

The issues I have in hand state "Official journal of the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry" with the website as www.sioi.it   They also state they are indexed in Medline. 

I searched PubMed and found "European journal of paediatric dentistry : official journal of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry".  The v.8, no.1 issue I have in hand ("European journal of paediatric dentistry : Journal of the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry (SIOI)") matches exactly with the articles indexed for v.8, no.1 of "European journal of paediatric dentistry : official journal of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry" in PubMed.  However, the journal I have in hand is "Official journal of the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry" while the one in PubMed states "official journal of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry".  So far as I can tell, these institutions are not the same.

WorldCat has one record for this title.
OCLC # 44559967:  the record states the publisher as "European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry ; Societa italiana di odontoiatria infantile".  This looks to me like two different publishers.  A note on the record states:
Published: Carimate, CO : Ariesdue, 2005-<2006>/ Vols. for 2000-2005 issued also with the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry; 2006- by that society alone.
Which seems to indicate that the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry is the one responsible for publishing this now (correct!) but the title still states it as "official journal of European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry" which is incorrect based on the issue I have in my hand.

EBSCOnet has two records for this title
1. Title # 318-387-222: does not list an ISSN. Gives publisher as "EAPD". This title lists format as "membership title".  The membership package (title # 317-758-282) lists 'multiple formats' for access but does not specify.
2. Title # 318-387-255: with the ISSN as 1591-996X. Gives publisher as "Ariesdue srl" (www.ariesdue.it) which is a printer only, the responsible party is the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry (www.sioi.it). Print only, in English but published in Italy.

If you go to the publications page for this publisher, http://www.eapd.gr/publications.htm you see "European journal of paediatric dentistry". Click into the journal archives for this title http://www.eapd.gr/Journal/EJPD%20Journal%20Archives.html and you quickly see that "European journal of paediatric dentistry" ended with volume 6, Dec 2005.

This looks to be a printer only. That is, they seem to be the people who print the material but are not responsible for content. They send you to Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry www.sioi.it

These look to be the provider of "European journal of paediatric dentistry". However, I cannot find recent content or indication of the last item published on this website. Regardless, the content of the issue in hand (which cites this publisher) matches exactly with content listed in PubMed (see that information above).

WorldCat has one record for this title.
OCLC #69677574: the record lists the preceding title as "European journal of paediatric dentistry" with OCLC #44559967 (same as above!). The publisher is listed as European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.  This seems to indicate that European journal of paediatric dentistry split; that it continued to be published by SIOI and that EAPD began a "European archives of paediatric dentistry".

EBSCOnet has one record for this title:
Title # 317-772-002, ISSN 1818-6300. Gives publisher as "EAPD" and lists as part of a membership to EAPD. This title lists format as "online".  The membership package (title # 317-758-282) lists 'multiple formats' for access but does not specify.

If you go to the publications page for this publisher, http://www.eapd.gr/publications.htm you see both "European journal of paediatric dentistry" and "European archives of paediatric dentistry" listed.  Click into the journal archives for "European archives of paediatric dentistry" http://www.eapd.gr/EAPDJournal/EAPD%20Journal%20Archives.html  and "European archives of paediatric dentistry" began with volume 1 for March & June 2006 then switched to volume 7 for Sept & Dec 2006. A search in PubMed for the v.8, no.1 (2007 Mar) issue of "European archives of paediatric dentistry" matched what is listed on the website as content. Yay!
