Re: Claims Koveleskie, Judith 09 Jun 2007 13:15 UTC

Once a week I run a claims report on Voyager to determine issues that
are missing or late. I process the claims. We do most of our claims
using EBSCO, although there are a couple of local papers that we order
directly and claim directly. I claim online using EBSCONET.

I have tried to tweak my prediction patterns, so that I don't claim too
soon. If EBSCO has no information for a late issue, I ask if
publication is delayed and use the "PLEASE ADVISE CURRENT PUBLICATION
SCHEDULE" option rather than just requesting the late issue.

I would be very interested in knowing how your library handles CLAIMS
for
missed issues.

Do you claim missed issues? How often? Who processes the claims? Do
you
use a subscription agent? Which one(s)? Do you ever claim DIRECT from
the
publisher?

If you do NOT claim missed issues, what procedures are in place in your
library for this matter.

Thanks!!!
