Re: CDS contact at Library of Congress Martha Spicuzza 13 Jun 2007 15:05 UTC

Unfortunately, when trying to phone CDS the voicemail box is full and
could not handle any more messages. This message has been on the CDS
website since August 4, 2006:

"The Cataloging Distribution Service (CDS) is currently experiencing a
major staffing transition. In early January 2006, nearly 40% of the CDS
staff retired. As a result, we have accrued a significant backlog of
email and voice mail messages.
CDS is taking steps to restore effective customer support. However, it
will take time to apply staff to fill critical operational functions. We
appreciate your continued patience as we go through this transition.

If we do not immediately respond to your phone call, e-mail message, or
fax, please be assured that we will contact you as soon as possible.
Your business is very important to us."

The June/July issue of American Libraries has a full page ad (p.9) for
their products. Perhaps those attending ALA later this month should
plan to visit CDS at 101 Independence Avenue SE and see if there is
anyone left to take care of their customers.

Subject: [SERIALST] CDS contact at Library of Congress

does anyone have a specific, helpful person at the Cataloging
Distribution Service whom I could contact about Classification Web and
an account problem?
Has anyone else had problems with CDS receiving payments for products?
Thanks.
