We are a medium sized academic library, and really don't get that many
samples.  I forward them to the liaison for that subject, and remind
them to place it in the  recycling bin if they don't want it. The only
exceptions are titles in religion/theology: if the theology liaison does
not keep the sample, we place it in our offerings on the ATLA - American
Theological Library Association - serials exchange. Due to severe staff
shortages, it is the only duplicate exchange we participate in anymore,
and it is well worth it to us.
