Government Documents/Serials Librarian Position

Great opportunity!  Lee College, in Baytown Texas, has an immediate
vacancy available.  This position requires a person passionate about
government information and preferably some experience with serials,
cataloging and library systems management.  The innovative person hired
into this position will be converting the federal depository from a
tangible collection to a virtual collection.  They will also provide
access to and manage an ever increasing number of electronic serials.
To qualify you must have an ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library
Science.  A minimum of 1 year of government documents experience is
preferred, in academic library settings and experience with a variety of

*Description:
This position will be responsible for the management of the government
documents of the library, as well as the serials collection. Process
government document collection, promote usage of government documents,
assess and promote usage of serials, assist with weeding of serials and
government documents, maintain statistics. Instructional and reference
duties (includes some weekends and evenings), supervise student workers
and one full-time staff worker. Represent library in various college
committee assignments and consortium organizations. Other duties as
assigned.

*Qualifications:
Masters in Library/Information Sciences from ALA-accredited institution.
Minimum of 1 year of government documents experience preferred, with
some academic library experience. Librarian must also demonstrate
experience with library instruction and reference. Excellent teaching,
written, and oral skills. Thorough knowledge of library resources
regardless of format. Experience with a variety of general and
library-related software applications. Preferences will be given to
candidates with prior experience working in a federal depository library
program and/or serials, experience with academic library operations, and
reference and instruction service. Familiarity with library systems
management, especially with Innovative Interfaces Integrated (III)
Library System, and prior cataloging experience. This is a security
sensitive position.

Excellent college benefits accrue with this full-time contract position.
This position is a regular 12-month faculty assignment. The starting
salary range will be based on the Faculty Salary Scale- 12 months
commensurate with education and experience.
