ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, LIBRARY TECHNICAL SERVICES Alfred R. Neumann Library University of Houston-Clear Lake seeks an Associate Director, Library Technical Services to oversee planning, coordination and administration of acquisitions, cataloging, serials, electronic resource management and library systems. Minimum Requirements: Graduate degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Three years administrative experience in technical services or related area as defined in the position summary outlined in the job description section above. Working knowledge of acquisitions, cataloging, serials management and collection management in an academic library. Current knowledge of standards for MARC, LC, AACRII, and OCLC. Knowledge of and experience with an integrated library system such as Innovative Interfaces, Inc. and future trends in the evolving library and information environment. Management style that is service-oriented, inclusive and empowers others to excel. Strong analytical, decision-making and interpersonal skills as well as excellent supervisory and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Evidence of strong planning, budgetary, and project management skills. Security sensitive - must pass criminal history check before an offer will be made. Special Considerations: Second master's degree in an academic subject area. Five years administrative experience in technical services in an academic library. Responsibilities: The Associate Director, Library Technical Services is responsible for providing service-oriented leadership that reflects current needs and anticipates future trends in the evolving library and information environment. This position has primary responsibility for planning, coordination and administration of acquisitions, cataloging, serials, electronic resource management and library systems. The incumbent fosters a collaborative working environment within technical services, the library, and other departments in the academic community. Participates in library-wide planning and policy development as part of the library's senior administrative team and assists the Executive Director in budgeting.
