Email list hosting service & mailing list manager

Re: Architect Corrice, Julia A. 19 Jun 2008 19:16 UTC

While the content of these guides may not be considered important to
many libraries since they are mostly advertisements and product
listings, they do include articles on architectural glass that are
important for my institution to collect.

We receive several other similar publications, and most of those are
sent to us for free. Those publishers want architects visiting our
library to use their guides. It's good business for them. It's why their
guides are published. That's why I find this all so bizarre. Many of our
patrons ARE their target audience.

I sent an email explaining this to the circulation manager, thinking
that maybe they didn't realize how these issues were used in our
library, but I received no response.

At this point I'm just giving up, and ordering them all as back issues.
If they're not here in a timely manner for our patrons to use, then they
might not get used by our patrons. While it bothers me that I can't
provide more up to date issues for our patrons, they will simply use
other current product guides.

In the case of "architect" one begins to question the actual value of
their content, then, if it can be so easily withheld from their
readership.
