Re: Patron Access to Electronic Journals Tracey Thompson 17 Jul 2008 14:03 UTC

As with most libraries, we are moving more and more online. We do have an
A-Z list through Serials Solutions that provides access to our e-journals,
and we are looking at an A-Z list for our databases now that we have an ERM.
We are also in the process of implementing a federated search. We hope to
put a federated search box on our home page for initial searches.

I would be interested in hearing from others who have implemented a
federated search. What does your federated search search? (Sorry for the
repetition.) How did you set it up? Where did you put it on your webpage,
and what was your reasoning? And did you ask for user input, and if so,
what did they say?

Thanks all. This list continues to be a valuable source of information.

We are not entirely online, but we do have a lot of print plus online
and some online only subscriptions. We activate the subscriptions
(sometimes by contacting the publisher and sometimes the vendor does it
for us) and then add them to Serials Solutions. We have an A to Z list
and receive marc records that we put into our online catalog.
