Re: FW: SERIALST Digest - 16 Jul 2008 to 17 Jul 2008 - Special issue (#2008-144) Tracey Thompson 18 Jul 2008 13:43 UTC

Andrea,

We are having the same problem with content for several of our journals.
The few times that we are actually able to enter the website (and I have
tried at home with a very broadband connection), much of the content is
missing and none of the new content is available. We get the same message
of "Not yet published" though we know that the print editions have been out
for some time. I did get a response from Meg, but it was not very helpful.
She basically just said we would have to wait patiently. I am still
pursuing the matter as I find that completely unacceptable. We have to make
some cuts this year, and I will be looking heavily at the Haworth titles. I
find it the height of irony that we are having so many problems with
journals that are for the library professionals.

Special issue (#2008-144)

Jeanette,

We are supposed to have access to Reference Librarian from 1993 but now
on the Haworth page I only see vol 48 and vol 49 appearing with vol 49
"Not yet published" note. It took about 9 minutes to get to the journal
page and I can't get any of the content in vol 48 because the
application times out.

And this is a publisher who publishes a large number of library
journals. Could editors of Haworth library journals request additional
information from the publisher? The publisher's response indicating
that the problem will be resolved in early 2009 is just simply not
acceptable.

ROFL, I am glad you asked! I waited & waited yesterday, got kicked out
onc=
e, then later gave up after about 5 mins. I talked to our electronic
acces=
s person & she said, yes, they are definitely unreliable and perhaps I'd
ha=
ve better luck this morning. So I tried again. ***Nine minutes*** it
took=
 to access the site.

I was searching access to the Reference Librarian for which we've not
yet b=
een invoiced for 2008, despite months of emailing back and forth with my
ve=
ndor, and supposedly, them with Haworth and thinking what finally did
show =
up is not what we *should* have, so went about it another way and spent
ano=
ther 10-or-so minutes waiting. I didn't actually time myself the second
ti=
me, but it definitely was not any quicker.

So. Do other libraries have access to Reference Librarian beyond v. 47
(is=
sues 97 & 98)? I am seeing 100 & 101 out in print . . .
