Survey on elimination of check-in, claiming, binding, etc. Sarah Glasser 07 Jan 2010 16:38 UTC

Dear Colleagues,

You are invited to participate in an online survey about the staffing implications of the elimination of check-in, claiming, and other print serials management tasks. The survey seeks to determine what happened to positions that became obsolete as a result of such changes and what happened to the employees who held the positions. The results of this survey are intended for publication and will be presented at the NASIG 2010 conference in Palm Springs, CA.

Librarians or library administrators at academic libraries that have eliminated or significantly reduced traditional print management tasks such as check-in, claiming, open stacks maintenance, or binding are invited and encouraged to complete the survey. For the purpose of this survey, “significantly reduced” is defined as reduced enough to affect the workload of the employee(s) responsible for the task.

The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. You will not be asked to provide any details that would identify you or your institution.

This survey has been granted exemption from review by the Hofstra University Institutional Review Board. Questions about the survey or the study can be directed to sarah.glasser@hofstra.edu. A link to the survey follows:

The survey will be open until February 7, 2010. Thank you in advance for your time and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
Sarah Glasser
