Dear All,

Informatics has promoted the usage of electronic journals in India by
way of offering a publisher independent gateway called J-Gate. Of
21,100+ English language e-journals, J-gate indexes, 6,200+ are open
access journals. J-Gate is the most popular and preferred gateway for
accessing electronic journals among Indian Universities and Colleges and
is accessed by over 0.5 Million Scholars and Students.

In view of ever increasing role of this gateway all over India, J-Gate
production team launched a monthly ‘J-Gate Newsletter’ in December 2008
to apprise Librarians, Research Scholars & Students of the latest
developments & happenings in domain of e-journals. The Newsletter covers
upcoming International Conferences, Exhibitions & Trade Shows, Press
Releases & Special Offers from various Publishers and developments in
E-Journals.

J-Gate Newsletter is a good media through which news from your company
can easily and regularly reach those Librarians, Scholars and Students
who are extensive users of electronic resources in the country.

May we invite you to have a glance at our current issue at:
http://informindia.co.in/Jgatenewsletter-current.html

In the end, your suggestions and ideas regarding scope and reach of our
Newsletter are highly solicited.

Thanking You,

Sumitha K Mani

Subject: From JSTOR: Current Scholarship Program Reaches 100 Journals
From: "David Fritsch" <David.Fritsch@ithaka.org>
Date: Tue, 9 Mar 2010 10:45:46 -0500

We are very pleased to announce that seven new publishers have recently
joined the Current Scholarship Program. While work continues to sign
additional publishers and titles to the Program, with these new
partners, libraries will be able to license and provide their users with
access to the current issues of at least 100 journals on the JSTOR
platform beginning in 2011.

The publishers that recently joined the Program include:

Association for the Study of African American Life and History

Michigan Historical Review, Central Michigan University

Historical Society of Pennsylvania

Massachusetts Historical Society

Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture

University of Nebraska Press

Western Historical Quarterly, Utah State University

These publishers bring a wealth of ground-breaking scholarship to the
Program. Titles include The William & Mary Quarterly and The Journal of
African American History, as well as other core publications in African
American Studies, Feminist Studies, and History.

We are very excited to have these publishers working with us to improve
access to current journal content. Librarians and users tell us
consistently that adding current issues to JSTOR is important to them,
and we know that more is better. Reaching 100 titles is a first step,
and we continue to strive to grow the Program with partners who share
our commitment to serving the needs of libraries, faculty, and students.

A final list of publishers and titles that will be available in the
Current Scholarship Program for the 2011 subscription year will be
coming soon, and pricing for the current issues of these journals will
be available in early summer. In the meantime, as you begin your
collection development planning for next year, a presentation from ALA
Midwinter about the Program benefits for libraries and details about how
your institution will be able to license titles in the Program is
available online. You can also contact us directly.

IngentaConnect gets ahead of the game with Shibboleth 2 compliant release

London, UK – March 10, 2010 – Publishing Technology, the largest
provider of software and services for the publishing industry, today
announced the latest release of IngentaConnect, its flagship collection
of e-publications.

This release of Ingentaconnect includes Shibboleth 2 integration in
anticipation of the forthcoming industry-compliant deadline of June
30th. Compliance with Shibboleth 2, a standards based, open source
software package for user authentication, is the latest in several
advances made to ensure the platform remains future-proof for its
publishers and its users. In an ever-evolving digital landscape,
IngentaConnect enables both its partners and users to be secure in the
knowledge that their content and delivery technology is safe-guarded for
the future.

IngentaConnect’s compliance with the latest Shibboleth standard is
enabled via OpenAthens SP, which also supports authentication for prior
versions of Shibboleth to ensure continued access for those who have not
yet applied for the newest standard and also other new technologies as
the develop.

“Our partnership with OpenAthens SP has been crucial to IngentaConnect’s
compliance with Shibboleth 2. It also means that we can easily support
other federated access systems e.g. Open ID and are poised to embrace
new emerging technologies as and when they arise – these new automations
can be made available on IngentaConnect literally at the touch of a
button.” comments Rose Robinson, IngentaConnect Product Development Manager.

In addition to Shibboleth 2, the enhancements in this release of
IngentaConnect include Open Access support to more clearly identify free
and Open Access content to users, improved visibility of purchase and
download options. The release also includes integration with
RightsConnect from the Copyright Clearance Center, and also offers a
'More about this publication? / More like this' feature that shares
additional information with readers, such as editorial board details and
highlights related articles as recommendations, potentially driving more
usage and revenue opportunities for hosted publishers.

IngentaConnect is also pleased to announce three new clients to select
its online publishing package, as well as two publishers that have
recently had content made live. Content from St Antony's International
Review (STAIR), Northwestern University Press and Sense Publishers will
all soon feature on IngentaConnect, and content from City University of
New York and Firenze University Press is now available.
