Question for libraries who classify their serial in LC? Arrigo, Paul 24 Apr 2012 19:25 UTC

Dear Serial Librarians,

For those libraries who classify your serials in LC do
you hand write the call numbers on the loose issues or do you print
labels for them? We are just now classifying ours in LC and want to
know what other libraries are doing.

Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

Here is a quick list:
http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/conserhold/Captabbr.html

And for months:

http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/conserhold/Mosabbr.html

The full list of abbreviations can be found in Appendix B of AACR2 (2002
revision).

I am in need of a chart or instructions to correctly abbreviate volume,
part number, and section numbers, etc, to be used by the bindery
assistant and or making item records. Could you please forward?
