Re: Question for libraries who classify their serial in LC? Seago, Catherine 24 Apr 2012 21:14 UTC

We create print labels for them. We capture the call number information from the Voyager check-in process and paste it into a Word template and print the labels when template is full. We used to handwrite the labels, but found it more accurate to capture and print the information from Voyager. - Sincerely, Kate Seago, University of Kentucky.

Subject: [SERIALST] Question for libraries who classify their serial in LC?

Dear Serial Librarians,

For those libraries who classify your serials in LC do you hand write the call numbers on the loose issues or do you print labels for them? We are just now classifying ours in LC and want to know what other libraries are doing.

Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

Here is a quick list:

And for months:

The full list of abbreviations can be found in Appendix B of AACR2 (2002 revision).

I am in need of a chart or instructions to correctly abbreviate volume, part number, and section numbers, etc, to be used by the bindery assistant and or making item records. Could you please forward?
