SUMMARY
The University of Arizona Libraries Delivery, Description, and Acquisitions Team (DDAT) seeks a librarian with management experience at the associate librarian level to coordinate the technical services work of the team. Incumbent manages outsourced cataloging, electronic resources management, some metadata schema development and application, cataloging in print and electronic formats, and acquisitions.

Additionally, responsible for exploring, evaluating, and implementing services and systems related to technical services with a focus on enhancing and improving discovery of resources for our customers. This position insures that the team provides accurate cataloging, linking, and creation/assignment of metadata for information resources available to customers and supervises five full-time staff. The Technical Services Librarian reports to the team leader for the Delivery, Description, and Acquisitions Team.

The highest priority work of DDAT is the acquiring and delivering of information needed to support our primary customers' teaching, research and learning; both ordering and interlibrary loan (ILL) support obtaining information; both cataloging and metadata work support discovery; ILL and all document delivery services provide delivery of information. This team is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing in-house digital scanning and reproduction work which merges the application of metadata and cataloging on a single team. The functions of this team implement the information access/acquisition policies and apply the cataloging & metadata strategies, schema and standards that are set by this team in coordination with other teams in the library. This team is responsible for implementing emerging access strategies (e.g. Patron Driven Acquisitions (PDA), Get It System Toolkit (GIST), etc.) to support the most cost effective and user-friendly acquisition of content for campus teaching and research needs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1.	Manages and coordinates the technical services work of the DDAT with a focus on management of outsourced cataloging, electronic resource management which includes managing electronic packages, cataloging in print and electronic formats, some metadata schema development, metadata application, acquisitions which includes patron driven acquisitions, and exploring, evaluating, and implementing services and systems related to technical services.
2.	Collaborates with campus departments to evaluate library support for technical services work and with other teams or individuals to identify, evaluate, and select vendors and other providers of information resources and technical services.
3.	Liaison with other teams or individuals to support metadata creation for digital projects.
Works with team(s) in assessing and implementing new workflow process as technology changes utilizing process improvement strategies.
4.	Supervises, trains, coaches, and mentors five full-time staff and facilitates the Performance Effectiveness Management System (PEMS) including developing annual performance and learning goals, monitoring progress, and provides guidance and completes end of the year summary evaluations.
5.	Identifies, collects, analyzes and applies relevant data, information and research studies to inform team and library strategic planning and development or improvement of services supporting research and teaching.
6.	Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and publishers to learn about new products available to meet information needs, advocate for development or improvement of products to better meet customer needs, and enhance customer discovery of resources needed for their research.
7.	As a member of the library profession, the Library Faculty Assembly and the general faculty of the University of Arizona, actively contribute to the library profession through research, service and scholarship, and engage in faculty governance of the Libraries and the University through service in the Library Faculty Assembly and on appropriate University committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.	Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution as of January 1, 2012.
2.	Experience in cataloging and acquisitions.
3.	Knowledge of MARC, AACR2, LCSH and LC classification.
4.	Experience using OCLC and integrated library systems.
5.	At least 3 years of supervisory experience, including performance management with strong ability to train, coach and mentor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.	Experience working in an academic library.
2.	Experience in working with Millennium.
3.	Experience in outsourced cataloging, electronic resources management, and metadata application.
4.	Knowledge of non-MARC metadata schemes.
5.	Knowledge of digitization principles and practices.
6.	Knowledge of digital collection management software.
7.	Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
8.	Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
9.	Ability to effectively plan, manage and oversee multiple projects, meet deadlines and prioritize work in alignment with the strategic goals of the Library and the University.
10.	Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
11.	Commitment to professional growth and development.
12.	Ability to work in a continually changing environment.
