Licensing & Copyright Librarian

ASU Library seeks a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and service-oriented licensing professional to lead the licensing program for the library collections held by ASU. This includes managing production demands of a licensing negotiation workflow; negotiating, revising, and updating conditions and terms of library and other related documentation in compliance with state and institutional requirements; and tracking, recording, and storing license details in the ASU Library services platform. The successful candidate works across units at ASU to: implement best practices in developing language, templates, and services; develop access models and pricing strategies; and support open access and open education initiatives. S/he serves as a resource for queries regarding licensing, copyright, fair use, and other intellectual property concerns. S/he upholds Arizona statutes and; ASU provisions regarding contract requirements; consulting legal counsel as necessary on the interpretation of United State copyright and contract law, especially licensing. The successful candidate will be skilled in negotiating, writing, and interpreting complex contractual agreements; adhering to timelines, and working under pressure; and employing analytical problem-solving techniques. S/he collaborates with other personnel to continuously improve and advance University and Library mission and goals.

Qualifications:
&
Required:
●	MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant field
●	Minimum three years experience working with licenses or contracts
●	Demonstrated knowledge or familiarity U.S. copyright law and fair use exceptions

Preferred:

●	Five or more years’ experience negotiating licenses with information providers
●	Demonstrated initiative and an entrepreneurial, independent approach to licensing work
●	Demonstrated collaborative approach to problem solving and working effectively across organizational boundaries
●	Demonstrated strong analytical skills
●	Demonstrated understanding of open access, scholarly publishing practices, and user privacy issues
●	Demonstrated knowledge or familiarity with the life cycle of electronic resources in academic libraries
●	Experience in the commercial, university or open publishing industry
●	Excellent interpersonal and writing skills

Salary and Rank: This is a year to year academic professional position; Assistant/Associate Librarian, Rank and salary dependent upon experience.
