Preservation Question LINDA FAGEN 30 Sep 1992 01:26 UTC

We had a recent outbreak of mold on the covers and spines of approximately 35
bound volumes of serials. We isolated the materials and then cleaned the
visible mold off with ethanol and cotton balls working under a fume extractor
and then air dried the volumes. These procedures of cleaning, drying and
subsequent monitoring are fully described in "The Invasion of the Giant
Spore" which also addresses determining the cause and modifying the
environment. This leaflet (#5) is available from Solinet, 1438 West
Peachtree Street, N.W., Suite 200, Atlanta, Georgia 30309-2955 or call
