Subject:      Journals with discs

One more query about these mixed format journals.

We are trying to develop a policy for handling the journals that come with
discs.  Curently none of our periodicals circulate, but we have no inhouse
hardware for patron use with this type of material. I would like to ask
those libraries that have developed some method of handling these
materials if they would respond to the following questions:

1.  Do the journals and discs circulate outside of the library?
2.  Do the discs circulate outside of the library while journals remain
    noncirculating?
3.  Do you make circulating copies of the discs and keep a master?
4.  What department is responsible for making and maintaining copies?
5.  Which department is responsible for holding the master?
6.  Do you provide the necessary hardware for the use of the discs
    inhouse?
7.  Approximately how many subscriptions do you have that come in this
    format?

Answers may be sent directly to me--I would be happy to post the results
to the list if there is interest.
