Re: Literaturnaia Gazeta E. Gaele Gillespie 29 Apr 1993 18:53 UTC

In response to Kathie Martin's inquiry re: _Literaturnaia Gazeta_ (Russian-
language ed.):

We currently subscribe to _Literaturnaia Gazeta_ (Russian-language ed.) via
Victor Kamkin. We have been receiving it just fine, with no breaks in
service. The latest issue we rec'd. was the April 14, 1993 issue.
             ---- However ----
We used to subscribe to _Literary Gazette International_ (the English-language
ed. of _Literaturnaia Gazeta_) through Faxon. This ed. ceased after publn.
of vol. 1, no. 20 (Jan. 1991). In fulfillment of the ceased title, the
publisher (and therefore Faxon) supplied the following title:
_Nezavisimaia Gazeta. Eng. ed._ (parallel title _Independent Newspaper_ =
_Nezavisimaya Gazeta_) which began with vol. 1, no. 21 (Feb. 1991). It's
published in McLean, VA by Independent from Russia. (BTW, our Russian
bibliographer asked us to continue subscribing to it, because it's a far
better newspaper than the Eng. ed. of _Literaturnaia Gazeta_.)

I offer this info. only because you say you are subscribing to the Russian-
language edition of _Literaturnaia Gazeta_ through Faxon and are having
receipt problems. I just wonder if Faxon got your subs. confused with the
English-language ed., which has ceased, and perhaps such a mix-up is at the
root of your non-receipt problems, as our Kamkin subs. for _Literaturnaia
   Gazeta_ is doing just fine.
