Our library received the June 1993 issue of HG on May 4th.
According to an NPR report (I believe it was a Weekend Edition:
Susan Sanborn was the reporter), the publication will cease with
July 1993. Ms Sanborn lamented the passage of this venerable
icon, and said the publisher attributed HG's demise to stiff
competition from Architectural Digest.
We have not received official notice from the publisher, however,
or from our vendor--EBSCO.

We subscribe through Faxon, and they notified us that it has
ceased. There was also an interesting segment on NPR one morning
about it's demise, so I am sure it has really died.

As a subscriber I have not been officially notified. However, it was
in several of the newspapers (including the NYT) that HG had been dropped
by its publisher --perhaps because of the decline in the "coccooning market"
and because it seemed to address the same market segment that read
Architectural Digest. Unlike the Connoiseur disappearance, where we were
"made whole" by a partial subscription to Town & Country, I have not
been told that I will get AD in lieu of my HG subscription.

Cornell uses FAXON. We've received through June 1993 but annotated our
check-in record with the info that FAXON advises the title is ceasing. We,
like you, are waiting for additional information as to the exact date/issue
of ceasing.

I remember reading recently about some titles discontinuing in the
home/architecture area. (I think I read it in TIME, NEWSWEEK, the Chicago
READER or the TRIBUNE or something like that...) It seems that the
publisher of HG acquired another title, or HG was acquired by another
publisher, and whichever publisher that was decided that one of the
titles had to go, and HG was it. (Was "Architectural Digest" the one
that remained?) This is all sort of fuzzy in my mind, but the one fact that
I definitely DO remember clearly was that HG was to be discontinued.
(Sorry I don't have anything more concrete to offer as evidence; I'm sure
someone else is going to come up with it in a few minutes anyway, though.)

We have received through v.165:no.6 (1993:June). It has been coming
regularly right along. I cannot look at the issues as they are shelved
at our other campus, but I am puzzled why it would seem to be listed
as discontinued. (By the way, our sub is with Faxon).

Thanks to everyone who replied about the cessation of HG. It was
very helpful to have collaborative reports.
