Subject: Bindery prep

I searched Serialst archives (at last!) but did not find answers to this
bindery question: has anyone found a reasonable way to prepare issues for
bindery shipments monthly but still allow patron access IF the issues are
in a technical services area that is closed nights and weekends.
I suspect if issues were kept in public periodicals areas they would become
incomplete? If anyone has a good system for pulling issues and at the same
time allowing access up until they are boxed, I would appreciate comments.
We do show "leaving for bindery" on NOTIS with the date they are "inaccessible"
and patrons and staff know that one month from that date the volumes will
return.
A second question is: does anyone maintain a card file in the bindery
showing a historical-type record of vol.send and shipment date????
We are having interesting discussions about paper files and online system
information. Thanks for responses to me if the list does not need
