IPD or Gordon & Breach or harwood academic publishers or ... Scott B. Wicks 08 Dec 1994 02:08 UTC

I was preparing to pay our Gordon and Breach Publishing Group (I think that
is what they are called now) titles for 1995 and contacted their US office
at the (201) 643-7500 number to inquire about the Photocopy License Waiver
form as well as their Subscriber Incentive Plan.

The response I received today was that neither of these programs continue
to exist. Hmm...

Are there others of you who have asked to waive the photocopy charges and
been given similar answers?

I can't in good faith pay these invoices in-hand as they include the
statement regarding the photocopy license which reads "the subscription
price ... includes a fee for a Photocopy License which permits multiple
photcopying [typo not mine] of single articles for the internal study or
research purposes of the subscriber."

As I read the statement, Cornell does not want or need the photocopy license.

If the cost for this unwanted service is truly 10% of the journal price, it
would be irresponsible to pay it.

If there are any IPD _et al_ sales representatives out there listening, I'd
sure appreciate a call at (607) 255-4960.

Thank you.
