Early bird announcement: please mark your calendar for Tuesday,
June 27, 1995, at 9:30 am for the following program:

Why EDI?  what managers need to know about Electronic Data
Interchange

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) - the exchange of routine
business information in a computer processable format - is moving
rapidly from the conceptual stage to become a reality in the
information industry.   Managers will learn how to take a
proactive approach toward this technology and discover how they
can be empowered in making informed management decisions related
to the introduction of EDI.  A panel of speakers will provide an
overview of the management considerations of implementing EDI
based on experiences from the world of business and the library
perspective both in the US and abroad.

Speakers are:  Friedemann Weigel, Managing Partner, Information
Systems Director, Harrassowitz, Wiesbaden, Germany; Brian Green,
Managing Agent, Book Industry Communication, London, England;
Joan Griffith, Director of Library Technology Development,
University of New Mexico and Chair of SISAC, Albuquerque, NM;
John Fitts, Vice President, General Manager, Information Systems
and Services, Ebsco Industries, Inc., Birmingham, AL

The program is sponsored by the Acquisitions Systems Committee of
the Systems and Services Section of LAMA and by the Acquisitions
Organization and Management Committee of the Acquisitions Section
of ALCTS and co-sponsored, in name only, by the Acquisitions
Committee of the Serials Section of ALCTS.  The program is also
supported by SISAC, the Serials Industry Systems Advisory
Committee.
