At the University of Memphis Libraries we have 2.8 million pieces of
microformat. We have three Minolta 503; one Minolta 507; one Minolta
606Z and one Canon 780. For years we were strictly a Minolta
customer, but finally have had a Canon for the last 4 years and it
has fewer service calls on it than do the Minoltas. The basic
problem for us is the fact that none of these printers are built to
handle the high quantities of copies which we make during a year. We
have staff who make all of the copies. No printers are available in
the public areas. We charge $.25 per copy and charge only for the
best copy, even if it takes several tries. If you would like
specific information on the various printers we use, please send me
a direct e-mail request.

Thank you!

If you buy a Minolta make sure that your service contract is with an
authorized Minolta dealer. We have had Minoltas down for *long* periods of
time because the Service company was "waiting for a part" from Japan!
The Minolta we have serviced by an authorized dealer has never been down
more than a couple days.
