I have seen mention made, and in my cataloging of Internet serial resources, have come across, quite a number of online serials available only through subscription, especially relating to more commercially- and legally-significant subjects, though this is not always the case. Some specific titles that I know fit both of your criteria above, are: (all these via OCLC, in fact, at one point or another in time) Current opinions in medicine Current opinions in biology Online journal of current clinical trials Online journal of knowledge synthesis for nursing The World Wide Web will make it easier for publishers to follow more-standard publishing/pricing practices for online publications, blocking non-subscribed users from accessing the particular homepage(s) involved. There will be more subscribe-for-online-access-serials in the future, especially as the commercial aspects of the Internet develop further. ****************************************************************************** Thomas E. It is the Chicago journal of theoretical computer science from MIT press. I am certain there are probably a few other journals which fit this criteria. *************************************************************************** Lisa A. Macklin Head, Serials Control Dept. I think the Association of Research Libra ries puts a bibliography of e-journals. I think also that MIT Press has an e-journal which it published and charges a fee.
