Maxwell Library. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage current journal and newspaper subscriptions to approximately 1,500 titles. Responsibilities include: communications with primary serials vendors, records management, assisting patrons with use of the collection, make recommendations for improvement of collection through new subscriptions and cancellations, and use of microforms. Manage physical logistics of journal collection; re-location of volumes as required; maintenance of shelving; and coordination of binding shipments. Collection Development: serve as liaison librarian to assigned academic department; keep the department informed of new library resources available in the field; assist with progress in moving towards electronic formats in serials; attend conferences and other professional training sessions as appropriate and as time/budget permits. Perform related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from ALA-accredited library program. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with faculty, students and colleagues in a team approach. Knowledge of electronic and network-based information resources and technologies. Good oral and written communication skills; good organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred: Professional-level experience in an academic library; supervisory experience.
