***Yes.  Do *not* dispose of the kardex.  We went online in 1989, 3 serials
librarians ago, and I still go to that invaluable resource in the back
corner of my office.

Although I wasn't here when the cutoff happened, my understanding is that
we went online "from this day forward" and kept the kardex for history.

We closed our Kardex four years ago for periodical checkin.  However, we
still maintain newspaper checkin in the Kardex because it is so much
simpler than adding it to the computer.

How do other libraries handle newspaper checkin when they have a computer
system?
