Dear Colleague,

As someone actively interested in the implications of digital media for
scholarly publishing and debate, you may be interested to know that the
Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME) is now live on the Web!

JIME's review environment allows you to make comments and engage in
critical discussion with the authors, and other reviewers. You can also
interact with demonstrations of systems described in articles.

We would be very interested in your feedback on the journal's overall
concept and design, as well as on the following particular article (if this
is an area in which you work), which is open for peer review during
September.

      Varying the Texture: A Study of Art, Learning and Multimedia
      Nicola Durbridge and Matthew Stratfold

Details of the rationale behind JIME can be found at the Web site. However,
to quote from a forthcoming paper:

    * JIME is not simply making the conventional media of paper-based
      articles available on the Net, but addressing the interactive
      dimensions which are the essence of the new media;

    * JIME is not simply adding an e-mail listserver to allow
      peripheral discussion about published articles, but developing a
      journal review environment in which submitted articles and open
      peer review are tightly integrated with each other, and central
      to the journal's operation.
