Hi Margaret

We are a small college library with about 975 periodical subscriptions. I
claim once a month and it's seldom more than 15-20 issues I have to claim.

Are you claiming too soon? 125 seems like way too many to me but maybe
your titles are very different from ours

Margaret,

We are a medium-sized private liberal arts college and we also
subscribe to about 900 serial titles. I just did claiming this week
and only had about 30-40 issues that we have not received. Your
figure seems very high to me and I'm curious to know who your agent
is. Our agent does an excellent job for us. We have very few issues
that we end up not being able to get at all. We may have to claim
more than once on some issues but eventually we get them from the
publisher or from the agent's missing copy bank.

We are a large public library and have about 900 subscriptions which are
handled through a periodicals agent. Each week I run a quick scan to see
how many of those issues are currently "claimed but still not received".
The number of such issues has been averaging about 125 at any one time.

Based on other's experience, does this rate seem high/low/or about right
for this number of subscriptions? Some of our public services staff seem
to think that our agent should be doing a little better for us; but when
I look at a *very* rough estimate of (900 titles x 12/yr)= 10800 pieces,
then 125 out of 10800 seems like a pretty small percentage. Any
thoughts? Is my logic flawed? Thanks!
