CAPCON Library Network is pleased to announce the following Continuing
Education Courses for Spring 1997:

FACILITATING ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE

Course C 702

Libraries, like many institutions, are living in a swiftly moving and
changing environment.  Often libraries themselves are the generators of
change.  The effective facilitation of change is important to the success
of any organization.  Understanding the different types of change that
can occur and learning hthe stills to manage and lead change is the
subject of this one-day workshop.

Through the use of change models, discussion, and group work,
participants will explore the dynamics of change.  The application of the
concepts explored to the real workplace will be an important part of this
workshop.  (.5 CEUs)

CATALOGING INTERNET RESOURCES

Course: C 706

This all day workshop will prepare participants to create OCLC MARC
bibliographic records for electronic resources that are available on the
Internet.  Electronic resources include remote computer programs and data
files in a wide range of subject areas and formats.

Instruction will include:  complete application of AACR2R Chapter 9
(Computer Files) with reference to OCLC's guidelines "Cataloging Internet
Resources" and relevant application of Chapter 21 (Access Points), LCSH
headings, and MARC Field 856.  There will also be an opportunity to
created a catalog record from surrogate material for an actual Internet
resource.
