Update 5 to the CONSER Editing Guide is available from CDS and many of
you have received it.  I want to draw your attention to two things.

First, there is an error in the updating instructions. For Appendix L,
replace only pages 1-4 and do not throw out pages 5-7 as instructed!

Secondly, there is a change in the order of notes given in Notes--General
Information.  After discussion at the CONSER Operations meeting last May
the consensus was to stop excepting field 538 from the CONSER policy of
giving notes in tag order.  This change is also reflected in changes to
Module 30 of the CONSER Cataloging Manual, Update 5/6, which is due any day.
