We have certainly bound and rebound a lot of volumes and books with
photocopies to replace missing pages. They seem to hold up fairly well. We
maintain a file by periodical title with replacement pages that circulate
for public use until or if the volume is bound with an additional copy in a
binding file. Some articles are permanent residents because there is no
binding margin remaining in the bound volume.

Our bindery charges a per hour fee for trimming and special handling so if
we send a lot of this material in one shipment, we really raise our per
volume cost when estimating the total cost of the shipment!

If the volume is in really bad shape or complete issues are missing, then we
try to replace with microfilm rather than binding.
