Dani,

At the present time we have an automated checkin system that flags items
for claiming. It goes from C1 to Claim 4. We transmit most of these
claims electronically to our vendor. The others we fax a list or mail the
claims (some direct orders, etc.). We review the C1,2,3s and 4s and the
system claims only those we release. Then we check the 'claim checker'
whenever it comes in agains each title to reply to the vendor as to which
items they need to reclaim. Once we generate a C1 for an issue the system
automatically processes C2 and C3s at, I believe, 45 or 60 day intervals.
Whenever an issue goes to Claim 4 status the system prompts us to review
it. At that point we normally authorize a Claim 4 but also call the
vendor ourselves.

We presume, although have no knowledge about it, that the vendor somehow
coordinates the claims from our 'claim checker' and the electronic
C1,C2,C3 and C4s that we upload to them.

With Ebsco, at least (can't speak for Faxon), you make the appropriate mark
on the claim checker for each item to be re-claimed, and the followup claim
will be made for you. So, yes, you "use the 'claim checker' in lieu of
subsequent claims".
