        NON-BOOK CATALOGING COORDINATOR

The Milton S. Eisenhower Library seeks nominations and applications for
the position of Non-book Cataloging Coordinator who will
recommend/implement solutions that make non-book monographic networked
information resources of all types more accessible and visible to users of
the catalog of the twenty-first century.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, the incumbent will
perform original cataloging of materials in a variety of formats,
including nonbook monographic materials. Coordinate non-book monographic
copy cataloging. Serve as liasion to the Resource Services and Systems
Departments in developing Web access through the library's online catalog
to commercially available and locally developed Z39.50 resources.
Participate in department and library-wide forums on creating access to
electronic monographic resources.  Assist in the development of reports
created via the Horizon online catalog software. Coordinate ongoing
development of the Cataloging Department's Web Pages. Participate actively
in local and national professional development and service activities. The
successful candidate for this position will have strong collaborative and
collegial skills with a personal commitment to responsive and innovative
service.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Accredited MLS; minimum of three years, post-MLS, recent
original cataloging experience, including cataloging of nonbook materials;
working knowledge of current cataloging rules and the USMARC formats;
reading knowledge of one Western European foreign language; experience
with a local automated system and a national bibliographic utility,
preferably OCLC;  excellent analytical, communication and training skills;
flexibility; ability to prioritize work to ensure that departmental and
library goals are realized;  ability to work independently as well as part
of a team.  Research library experience, knowledge of HTML, Z39.50 and
emerging metadata standards, and project management experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $33,700 - $43,000.
