Subject: Cancerweekly plus, coverage dates

I'm working on a project to create brief records in our OPAC for journals
available in full-text in a Web database to which we've subscribed. I'm
verifying titles, ISSNs, and periods of coverage before creating these
records and have come across a discrepancy.

The title in question is:

OCLC# 36854110
Cancerweekly plus, ISSN 0896-7385

The OCLC record, which has not been CONSER authenticated, gives the date of
the first issue as Feb. 3, 1997. The database, however, cites several
hundred articles from this title dating from between June 3, 1996 and Feb.
3, 1997.

According to the OCLC record, there is a previous title (Cancer
biotechnology weekly), but it's very different, so it's hard to imagine
that the database creators/indexers would confuse the two.

Can anyone provide clarification? Thanks in advance.
