SERIALS COPY CATALOGER, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
Working under the direction of the Head of the Serials Cataloging Section,
will catalog serials for which bibliographic records are available from the
OCLC online database and other sources.  Will create and edit bibliographic
records to conform to national standards and to MIT classification and
cataloging policies; participate in maintenance and contribution of CONSER
records; verify personal and corporate names, series, and subject headings
in manual and automated authority files; develop and share expertise in
non-print serials cataloging; participate in committee work; and perform
special assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent and 4.5 years of direct or related
experience, preferably in a technical services area of a research library.
Good organizational, decision making, and oral communication skills
essential.  Experience with OCLC and familiarity with microcomputers and
Microsoft Windows highly desirable.  Reading knowledge of one or more
foreign languages desirable.  Accurate typing (40 wpm) essential.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
$26,000 - $28,950; actual hiring salary will depend on qualifications. MIT
