Subject: Status of The European

We receive our copy of The European (a weekly newspaper from the UK)
from a newstand. When I picked up the last issue December 14-20, I
was told that the newspaper would no longer be published. I received
a refund for issues not received as I pay for 4 months at a time.

If you are looking for confirmation, check out the editorial on page
5 , the very last paragraph of column 2. This ceased publication
notice is really buried. Quote: " With these thoughts this last
edition of The European bids farewell to loyal readers. Our
proprietors, who first rescued the title from the ruins of Robert
Maxwell's empire, then supported it staunchly for six years, have
decided that the time has come for others to take over; meanwhile
publication will cease."
