Subject: Business of Acquisitions Preconference--Reminder

The long-running ALCTS Acquisitions Section advanced preconference, The
Business of Acquisitions, will be held in New Orleans, June 24-25, 1999.

The Business of Acquisitions Institute series was developed to meet the
continuing education needs of experienced acquisitions librarians. Its
programs are also relevant to vendors, publishers, and administrators.
Librarians who have recently become responsible for acquisitions will find
the program approachable and informative.

This year's theme is "Advancing Acquisitions:  Services, Standards, and
Skills."  Topics will include consortia, ILS vendors, and acquistion of
electronic products. The program combines plenary sessions, focused
breakouts, and informal discussion groups.
