NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY
ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL POSITION

The Cline Library at Northern Arizona University invites applications for:
Electronic Products and Serials Librarian. Under the direction of the Head of
Bibliographic Services, this position supervises a unit which acquires,
catalogs, and coordinates web-based access to electronic products and serials,
including government publications. Supervises four FTE staff and may supervise
students and interns in special projects.   Participates in the Bibliographic
Services Management Group.  Convenes the Library�s Electronic Access Working
Group, an inter-departmental body responsible for coordinating decisions on the
description, indexing, and presentation of newly acquired electronic products.
Works closely with the Acquisitions Librarian, who negotiates licensing
agreements and coordinates relations with vendors.  Participates in Library and
University committees. Serves as a subject specialist, which includes resource
selection and faculty liaison responsibilities, in an area to be assigned based
on individual�s background and interests.  Provides 3-5 hours of reference
assistance per week at a designated service desk.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from ALA-accredited school required.  Experience
with serials and/or electronic resources cataloging preferred.  Supervisory
experience and knowledge of serials acquisitions processes also preferred.
Experience with  AACR2R, LCSH, CONSER practices, LC and SUDOCS classification
schedules, and MARC formats.  Experience with an integrated library system
(preferably INNOPAC), and a major cataloging utility (preferably OCLC).
Evidence of  innovation in the application of cataloging skills to enhances
public access to information in a web-based environment.  Familiarity with
emerging trends in libraries, higher education, and distance education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a diverse workplace and a
multi-cultural learning environment; evidence of flexibility and enjoyment of
collaborative endeavors.
