I guess if they ditched the tanks (sounds to me as if they aren't the usual 'drop tanks'), then, in order to make J5, they'll have to ditch the 'armed gig' also.
*Unless* this is considered a sort of 'conformal' config in which the 'gig' is considered part of the hull.

This suggests that the gig is carried externally versus internally, if this is the case would the hull starts out as 320 tons since the drop tanks add 100 tons?
