It would be easier to do them in Striker (for CT), or pick (close) equivalents from what has already been done by others, as opposed to using the Armoured Fighting Vehicles Supplement from Space Gamer 44.

There aren’t that many designs for Striker, mainly because it was mostly pre-internet (I mean before the internet was a thing for more than 5 people (I’m exaggerating but you’ll get my point I’m sure)).

When the TML is born in ’87 we are into the start of MegaTraveller, and MT is going full swing by the time I signed up in ’90.

There are all sorts of designs knocking about for MT that would fit the bill.

Rob Dean did a TL11 Grav tank (but no APC), as well TL9 Tanks, APCs and Grav sleds (both tracked and Grav)

I assumed that Scott Kellog did a number of TL9 Tanks, APCs and Grav sleds although I can’t seem to find any, but if you ever wanted to do WWI / WWII to early ‘90s in MT then Scott Kellog has done everything you’ll need, and looking thought his stuff it looks like great minds think alike because he as a battle dress and cargo lifters like mine (https://www.freelancetraveller.com/features/consgoods/index.html (although he did his first of course …))

TL11 doesn’t seem to get much love from an design point of view, although there are the Sword World Grav Tank and Grav APC in 101 vehicles from DGP that will do the trick (No.s 14 and 15 in the book)

If you’re going to have a crack at converting them I’d appreciate it if you did them for MT (because I’d likely use them … :))

As for weapon conversions, it’s probably not an issue as the weapons designed for the design sequence you pick should be worked out for that design sequence, or in other words they probably have similar effects for the sequence you pick.

Best regards,

Ewan

Hello again Ethan,

I always say take what you can get when you find it.

I wasn't in the Space Gamer archive at Archive.org, unfortunately. That was very much my preference.

Hello Graham,

In The Space Gamer No. 44 October 1981 on pages 15-24 is the article Armored Fighting Vehicle In Traveller by Donald Gallagher and William Barton which may have been the source.

I'm looking for advice on converting a couple of vehicles. In the JTAS 7 Amber Zone 'Pursue & Destroy' Frank Chadwick reworked the Anabasis for Traveller. I don't think Striker had been created when he wrote the scenario, so he used Mercenary to create the PCs vehicles. I'm thinking of 'recovering' them for others to use. Aside from wondering if there is a 'cheat sheet' for the Striker design sequence, I am hoping someone out there can advise on weapon conversions between the two books.
