And for other versions, is it just clothing you can wear Reflec under?

CT Book1 p41 - “reflec may always be worn under other clothing or armour”

In theory you just ignore the combat modifiers for reflec, except against lasers, when it is better than anything else - including battle dress.

However, there is an oddity in the combat tables where reflec is beneficial against some piercing weapons (claws, stinger, teeth, spear, pike and body pistol but not horns, dagger, foil, bayonet or any other firearm)

That is absolutely bizarre. If it is glorified tinfoil, I'd expect it to have no effect whatsoever on any sort of round from a firearm and probably none from slashing or piercing attacks.

I recall AD&D had a weapons vs. AC table per weapon (crunchy, but it did make crossbows make sense versus some armours for instance) and that had some oddities here and there. That sort of mechanics (some bonuses versus some armours) made stilletos look good.

I think I know why they steered away from per-attack-type armour mods or ratings (depending on Trav version) but to me it would be the best way to capture the distinctions and add flavour. (melee slash, melee pierce, melee bludgeon, firearms, lasers/masers, radiation/plasma, explosion/collision, flame, cold, gases etc).
