I assume all spacers have to take anti-rad. The reality of space and solar flares/other radiations is that unless you have a massive water body shielding the ship (or something similar), you won't stop some of the worst radiations. And slowing them *down* partly but not completely, is even worse for you than if they zipped right through your 'almost translucent to them' ship.

Well, there is (as I mentioned up thread a bit) Fast Drug. You could get a 60-day flight time out of using that, although you'd be just a ballistic object, with no ability to change course or even *notice* that you needed to change course.

As to the radiation problem, maybe add an anti-rad drug drip? Or cover up with several layers of lead-lined X-ray aprons?
