Hi Tom,

I’ve thought about putting up a web page, but I get to MTU so infrequently that it’s probably not worth it. It would be pretty static, sometimes for quite a while.

I do a few vehicle designs every now and again. Sometimes they are to do with the plot of the scenarios I’m putting together, sometimes because something catches my eye i.e. TL8 small craft to round out Scott and Robert’s Horde.

The autonomous portable low berth is for people smuggling into an immigrated restricted companion system to an over populated primary which the PC’s have the possibility of getting embroiled in. Which is Home system (over populated) with New Home being the main planet around the companion.

The loading shovel and the advanced base was for a prisoner escape scenario the PCs have the possibility of investigating on the prison planet Pawel in Home system.

I’ll probably do a troop transport or prisoner transport for an orphan transplantation scenario (from the over populated primary (Home) to an agricultural planet (Udesh)), but that will just be the set-up for the real scenario that the PCs have the chance to get embroiled in, but I’m not sure what that will be yet.

But I don’t re-design things that are already out there, so I use Robert’s (Dean), Scott’s (Kellogg), Antony’s (Farrell) and Alan’s (Spik) designs plus others where they fit, because why invent the wheel again? So Home County Navy is mostly Antony’s ships with a couple of Robert’s and a few others so posting these on a web site would seem slightly disingenuous. And then I also use published ones as well and modify them to fit them into MTU as well, so publishing copyrighted designs probably wouldn’t go down too well.

And my scenarios take a while to put together, and they are not that good, and I get distracted with things like Snapshot in Asteroid, or reading one of my collection and realising sometimes just how poor some of the early stuff is, or being amazed at how good some of the early stuff it, or being amazed at just how poor some of the recent stuff is, or how good it is etc and write a review.

And of course MTU is MegaTraveller and who plays that anymore?

And I don’t have the time to do it justice, or not in the way that I would like to anyway. So I punt my designs to the TML, and Jeff picks up a few of the more interesting ones as fillers for Freelance.

Maybe someday.

Best regards,

Ewan

I like the notion between these.

There might be an interesting TL-9/TL-10 hybrid where they've only got certain parts of TL-10, given the setting of a system on transition.

Maybe I should know this, Ewan, but did you have a place on the Net that is accessible to see more of what you're doing with your campaign?

My first go at a TL8 version of the small launch didn’t work as the propulsion was too big. I might have a go with a different propulsion system, but my guess is that 4 tons @ TL 8 is just too small.

Anyway here is the TL10 version of the small launch …

The Jugriang class small launch is a design by Langria Shipyards of Boogerian that fits into a standard 4 ton vehicle bay, such as the vehicle bays usually specified in Boogerian 50 ton space habitats, or the Smithson Class Scout where it can be carried as an auxiliary craft. This is the TL10 progression of the Longsa class small launch, and as such is a much more comfortable ride with grav plating and inertial compensators as well as faster close to planetary bodies.

Intended as relatively low-cost space travel it allows the residents of Boogerian to situate their habitats almost anywhere in system and still be able to commute to work or school if needed. It has a standard modular frame fitting so can be carried by a modular ship or boat as needed, as well as connect to standard space habitat to be able to provide propulsion to the habitat as may be needed.

The main cost of the launch is the TL10 Active EMS sensor systems. To keep cost down no passive sensors were installed.

Best regards,

Ewan
