You make a good point about the task statement. I was thinking maybe of looking at it as a task chain - Nav rolls for his efforts and if he succeeds, easier difficulty or a bonus based on level of success or something for the Pilot roll. Not because it is faster, just so both players get to chuck some dice.

In this case there's no bonus from attributes. The task specifies
"Pilot, Astrogation".

Perhaps. Another option is a long trip to the outer system and a very
time consuming search for a comet to harvest ice from.
