I was trying to think of a place/system that might have a lifeboat orbiting the primary sustaining itself for years (about 150 (without a place for it to land)), where there really wasn’t any reason for anyone to go, that the PCs would find/rescue (if I can think of a reason for them to go there) and then try to explain to the rescueees that the war they were in is ancient history, O and that the rescueees lost, and even though the PCs are the other side (the enemy) there really isn’t any reason to hijack the PCs ship and try and get back to the fighting that finished 150 years ago …

Investigating old records there was information that the ship may have had some high value cargo or had captured high high ranking noble/officer, or something similar and that a weak signal was picked up in the direction of the system. At the time the eventual winners were to busy to send out a ship to check it out. As events went the ship lost importance and eventually fell in to the bottom of the priority file and forgotten.
