Hi Timothy,

Found the Solar Panels in MgT2, thanks.

I thought about food in the lifeboat as well, but then you don’t really need it because you’ll be in the Emergency Lowberths. Having said that you may need some so that you can eat while you work out the best survival strategy for all those in the lifeboat.

As for:

“- convention game - will take your email as permission” … 😊

“- publishing something via Freelance Traveller” … always

“- publishing something via March Harrier Publishing” … hay, no worries, send me a pdf

“- publishing something via Mongoose (optimist that I am!)” … again, no worries, send me a pdf (if Mongoose will do that) if not buy me a beer (not that you’ll get paid enough for that so don’t worry about it)

If it turns out in a similar manner to the Nike Swoosh, don’t forget where it came from and throw me a surprise party in your country pad at some point in the future …

Best regards,

Ewan

Hi Timothy,

Looks good. I assume you just made something up for the solar panels, or are they detailed in a supplement/journal somewhere?

No, High Guard (MgT2) has them as an option.

If there was anything 'made up' it was adding the cockpit from HG as it says for small craft you have to have Bridge or that and it does seem reasonable there should be some controls but maybe there should be an option for 'really minimal.

Also it’s a lifeboat it doesn’t need cargo (or not much anyway). You get into it when the ship is blowing up, or when ship is heading towards the primary/gass giant/planet and you can’t stop it, or when you can’t support yourselves on the ship any more, all of which don’t really relate to moving cargo into a lifeboat (YMMV of course).

No, no.  I quite agree.  It was just the left over tonnage after adding up all my components (and having had to maintain lifeboats/contents at one time in my life could picture dried/tinned food stores) but...

And I say that because I’d use your 2 tons of cargo for an extra 8 weeks of fuel.

...I like that idea much better.  Adopted.

Which does give me pause to ask, how happy would you be with using my stats amd perhaps a brief paraphrased description from your text for:

- convention game - will take your email as permission

- publishing something via Freelance Traveller

- publishing something via March Harrier Publishing

- publishing something via Mongoose (optimist that I am!)

In any of the above cases I would of course give credit and not be using this as the whole thing but part of a bigger adventure.

Yup MgT2 and Megatraveller don’t translate too well. I’m trying to work out a reasonable translation for MgT2’s biosphere into MT and it’s not proving easy. Power points in MgT2 just don’t translate very well into Mw, and there is nothing to even try and guess at weight because MgT2 doesn’t do weight.

Yes, quite agree.

Also don’t limit yourself to the spirit of mine, MTU tops out at TL10, work with what works for your TU, or the OTU if that’s what you’re writing for. Write what makes sense there.

I know, but when I can do 'anything my brain fuses.  I didn't want to spend hours on all the possibilities (which is always a temptation) so working with constraints is helpful or part of my interest.

I did mean to try the first lifeboat but couldn't quickly find it.  May not be much different under MgT2.

Anyway happy that it stirred some thoughts, and if you do write something up for a convention let me know for which one and I’ll see about coming to play in it.

Oh yes!  Can pretty much guarantee if I did it would be TravCon.  So March for your diary.  If we ever get to meet again of course...

Thanks for the inspiration.
