Back in the late 80s, there was an interesting Sol solar-system-centric RPG called High Colonies. Something awful had happened to Earth and the survivors were all in various habs and around the system. The setting was interesting because back then, there weren't Earth based solar system games that I recall in the RPG space.

Back then, Star Frontiers, FASA:Star Trek, Traveller, D6 Star Wars, etc. were a thing. My early reading of this made reading the Expanse books seem vaguely familiar (not in details, but just in the attention to little parts of the system of Earth).

Anyway, the author got together with Columbia Games and they've released a 132 page PDF with its own mechanics and I guess a reboot or update of the setting.

I picked it up for $29.99 (CAD maybe? or USD?).

I just wanted to mention it because if anyone was looking for a solar-system focused game setting that could probably easily use Traveller mechanics, this would be one of those in my view. (That's my ObTrav)

If and when I have time to review it (too much medical/health stuff and other crises at home to say when but hopefully by sometime in January), I'll post a copy or a link to the review to the list.

For those who don't know, Columbia Games are the creators of Harn (what medieval history majors seem to think as a decent alternate medieval setting because of the attention to the feudal system and the focus largely on small villages with a few larger cities and not too many fantasy elements - you can have none if you want none). The quality of their maps is amazing even if you just want a fantasy map for a village (and has inspired creation of a mapping project for Profantasy's Campaign Cartographer so there are styles to mimic the Harnic map styles).

Anyway, not working for Columbia and only own a handful of Columbia products (I had friends who were completists).

Just liked High Colonies and figure some of you might like the setting.

When I look to reviewing it, I'll try to keep an eye to how easy it might be to transform into a Traveller rules flavour.

If I don't get to say it due to December and life... Happy Christmas/Holidays/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/Festivus/Yule(Winter Solstice)!

Keep on scrounging, try to keep your crew safe, and keep Travelling!
