When I was researching yachts for a piece of fiction I'm working on, I
found a couple good YT channels that go behind the scenes and are hosted
by crewmembers (the two I follow are both captains, IIRC).  I found it
interesting that even those mega yachts still only carry 12
passengers...there's a reason for that which would make a good plot
element or perhaps roadblock for a scenario.

earth, his Q&A are beyond compare, and he presents the material in a way
that's easily understood.

comes across as a bit pretentious to me, and his videos are pretty much
focused on the boat he crews, AWOL.

Thank you for those.  Brings back some of my time at sea.  Not, unfortunately, on a superyacht although it *was* a luxury liner.  I say 'was'.  That was in the 50s.  I was on it in the 80s after a conversion from liner to book  ship.  It was anything but luxury.  Although the captain talking about sunsets and being at sea hit the nail on the head.

The closest I came to that life was my sister who worked on a superyacht for a period as a chef.  When the ship was in the UK we drove over and had a tour.  Not so much gobsmacking, which I expected, but gobsmacking how tightly the crew were packed in.  We sat out on the deck with drinks watching the people walking along the quayside VERY aware that they were no doubt looking at us sunning ourselves on the deck of a multimillion pound yacht (quarter of a million, iirc, just to run it each year) wondering who on earth WE were!

My ObTrav is the Second Scions... time I revisited them.

cheers
