I think the short TNS pieces that we have such a nice collection of
probably go Imperium-wide, though manyy won't actually appear on a
general-news feed if they're from a couple of sectors away. They'd be in
the feed for people who are interested/bored enough to dig through it
though. The full article that might be attached to them probably doesn't
travel as far if the piece is considered of local interest only and
someone further away would have to put in a request for it, and wait
however many weeks for it to be sent from the nearest TNS news archive
(I assume they'd have one or two per sub-sector that would store all the
news from the sector, and a couple per sector that would get all the
articles from everywhere - eventually).

What % of the TNS postings do we imagine we see? If all we got per sector was roughly what we'd see in the collected postings over years in the Marches even if you cover 1105-1130 would certainly not take much space to move along. However, if the amount of releases is assumed to be thousands or more times larger, maybe more of an issue.

The real issue with 'Imperium Wide' is that X-boats moving at an average of around Jump 3.5 or so, would take about 2.5 months to cross sectors widthwise and maybe 3 months lengthwise. So to cross the Imperium from the Marches to the far other side or hang a dogleg and head down to the Solomani Rim seems like it would take several years. I'm not sure how much use piles of vastly dated snippets (not full articles) of places you've never heard of having things years in the past and context dependent to the region will be.

It might be useful for some academics or as you say, people with too many time units on their hands.... but for the most part, you wouldn't see them in the normal feed that shows up at a starport far beyond the source I would think.
