... when I saw this headline in a work related email:

New PSI regulations for university libraries

sadly, the short blurb to follow didn't live up to the hype...

Copyright for Knowledge, a grouping of which SCONUL is a part of alongside RLUK, RCUK, UUK and others, has produced a guidance document for university libraries on the new Public Sector Information (PSI) regulations. From July 2015, university libraries must comply with the PSI regulations which focus on the encouragement of wider re-use of information held by public bodies by anyone who wishes to do so. Read more.

However, here's my obtrav bit:

Following the Psionic Reforms of 1133, The Office for Education has announced new psi regulations for all places of education within the Regency.

1. Any students may include psionic submissions in full or partial fulfilment of coursework or examinations with prior notification to the unit leader.

2. All courses must provide for the marking of coursework or examination submissions which may include a psionic element by certified psions with the requisite skills.  In the absence of the necessary staff, alternative arrangements must be made, clearly delineated, and communicated to students and staff involved.

3. Student Unions will fully support psionic clubs and societies in similar manner to any non-psionic organizations.

4. At a minimum, monthly meetings will be provided for psionic academic and support staff for social, academic or psionic development.  Non-psionic staff may attend and meeting contents will be communicated to all staff.

5. Higher education establishments and research institutions will allow for and actively seek out opportunities for psionic development, training and research.

6. Higher education establishments and research institutions will develop communication channels to share and promulgate findings as openly and efficiently as possible.

For the non-TNE enthusiasts amongst us:

The Cognitive Metapsychology Department of Aleph University has been the subject of an expose in the weekend media.  The report accuses the CMD of being a psionic institute and actively seeking and training psions under the cover of their legitimate teaching and research.

1. The report is true and the university finds that several key members of staff have not shown up for work on Monday morning because they've gone (further) underground as soon as they read the news.  The PCs may be involved, knowingly or otherwise, in helping them get away.

2. As #1 but the members of staff have been abducted by Imperial authorities alerted by the press prior to publication.  The PCs may be involved as agents arresting the psions or as journalists covering the arrests.

3. The report is partially true but doesn't name any members of staff.  The department has one psionic member of staff who, prior to the news, was secretly screening potential candidates to direct to an actual psionic institute elsewhere on the world or in the subsector.  The psion is aiming to keep his/her head down following the news and keep his/her position.

4. The report is false and based on a disgruntled former member of staff who has strung the journalist(s) in question along in an attempt to discredit the CMD.  The so-called evidence of the ex-member of staff - who sought out psionic testing for themselves but was rejected as unsuitable - has been carefully manufactured over some months and is convincing but fake.

5. The report is false and the work of another university which has a department in direct competition for students/researchers/funding.

6. The report is false and the work of an actual psionic institute trying to muddy the waters regarding whether there are in fact any real institutes.
